After a very short period of disappointment that it was yet another white man taking the role (come on BBC, this is the 21st century godammit), I was actually really pleased with the choice. Peter Capaldi played my favourite character in 'The Thick of It', although maybe it wouldn't be appropriate if the new doctor swore every 5 seconds. Even if it would make for an interesting evolution of catchphrases
I'm still hoping they go for 'fuckety-bye'
Apparently he also used to practice Doctor Who scripts in front of the mirror. Which is amazing.
So yeah. I am pleased, and although I will be incredibly sad to see Matt Smith go, as he was the Doctor when I first properly started watching it (I'm already planning on not watching the Christmas Special until later, because I'm scared it might ruin christmas for me), I am also seriously looking forward to seeing someone else take the role. Especially someone as awesome as Peter Capaldi.
Although there is a strong possibility that this might happen.
Which would be a bit of a bummer.
